Super Thai on South Lamar in Austin Tx is the best Thai Restaurant. Also the best vegetarian restaurant in Austin. Low prices and delicious food at a great value. We love the spicy edamame with chili oil paste, the veggie spring rolls, and the large vegetable soup are amazing. Also the basil fried rice is wonderful. Very nice people, excellent service, great music and really nice atmosphere. Literally HALF their menu is vegetarian!
The pad thai and fried rice were good. We also had a red curry dish and a tom yum soup. Both were OK but nothing special. Curry was a bit too spicy (though red curry is always spicy). They do have a lot of gluten free options which is great and we thank them for. They were also pet friendly.
I highly recommend visiting this cozy Thai restaurant. The service is exceptional, and our order was served promptly, with everything looking fantastic. We tried the Ahi Scoops and Super Satay Chicken, both of which were incredibly delicious. The Ahi scoops were light, fresh, and had a delightful seafood flavor. The Chicken Satay was well-seasoned and accompanied by tasty sauces. The Tom Yum soup was delicious, not overly spicy and filled with plenty of shrimps. The Pad Woo Sen was also a flavorful delight.
Fantastic spot with a cozy but upscale feel, a small but welcoming staff, and phenomenal food. Every dish we had was so carefully crafted: the crisp on those basil leaves…. I’ll be dreaming about that red snapper and can’t wait to come back and try more things. Please note: the parking is limited and gonna be a pain, but the restaurant provides little printouts for your dash to avoid aggressive towing. And, honestly, parking further away just helps you walk off the overeating you’re going to do in this place.
Excellent food, always a busy place. Our Go-To Thai restaurant in Austin area. It can have up to 30 minute waiting time in busy times, so be prepared. No reservations, first come first served.
It’s a small place, so it can be noisy & you smell food from open kitchen all the time, which we don’t mind. But IMHO, it’s not a relaxed evening Dinner atmosphere.
Service is super fast & there are ton of people picking up To-Go orders all the time.
You won’t be disappointed if you ever want to have a good Thai food.
Parking can be tricky here, but go in the backside & hopefully you can find a spot.
Great as always. We have been coming to this restaurant for about 4 years. It never disappoints. The flavors and food are very consistent. The service is casual and efficient. They are very accommodating. The chilli spice is the best. It is natural, homemade, without any additives and preservatives. If you like Thai food, you need to come here.
Was recently recommended this place, was skeptical because of the name haha. The Kao Soi was legitimately the best I’ve ever had. Life changing. The ahi scoops were good but maybe a little too much of the seaweed or whatever. Son in law eggs were fire. Beef pad Thai absolutely slapped. I’ve gone 3 times now this week.
I discovered this restaurant in downtown Austin the other day after a theater night out. It was around 10:00pm and we were craving for some Thai food - turned out it was the only place opened until late night.
The restaurant is located on a plaza where a plenty of parking spaces are around. We entered the restaurant around 10:30pm and it was about 1/3 full. The whole vibe was chill and hipster. Servers were all friendly and attentive - they were also able to customize the spicy level I requested for our curry dish.
We ordered a shrimp fried glass noodles and a roast duck curry (half duck - generous portion). Both dishes were delicious - the glass noodle was a little too salty for me but the roast duck red curry was exceptional!! I’d go back just for the duck 😋
The restaurant opens until 2am Thursdays - Saturdays and they also have a nice bar area on one side so if you’re craving for some thai food + drinks at late nights, you should definitely give super thai a try!
